A private house project for a family of seven, along with two live-in staff members, located in an affluent residential area in Almaty, on an elevated site near the Esentai River. The house is divided into several functional zones: a shared first floor with a summer kitchen and terrace, a private second floor, a guest block primarily for the client’s parents, and a technical underground level. The design includes a separate entrance for staff and deliveries, providing easy access to the kitchen on the first floor. It is also directly connected to the lower level, where a storage area and the main food pantry are located.

The client's request was to organize the layout with the first floor on a single level, reflecting modern principles of private residential architecture. The steeply sloped terrain required substantial soil infill and the use of massive retaining walls, which were set back from neighboring fences. While this reduced the effective area of the plot, it significantly enhanced the quality of the space, creating a barrier-free environment for various outdoor activities—an important consideration given the presence of the client’s elderly parents.
Due to the high seismic activity (10 points), massive reinforced concrete structures were used. The cantilevers on the second floor are limited to a 1.5-meter overhang, and the double-height space is supported by shear walls to avoid unnecessary columns and beams.
The terrace, summer kitchen, and plot are seamlessly integrated into the house design, making outdoor gatherings frequent, given the region's long warm season. One of the courtyard walls features a retractable screen for open-air movie nights. The final architectural concept includes perimeter cantilevered cornices that offer protection from year-round sun exposure. The finishing is done in a minimalist combination of beam-shaped bricks and large-format porcelain tiles, accented with natural wood slats arranged in a randomized pattern.
